The short version
IndianCivics is a civic education platform. You can read the content freely. If you sign up and take the pledge, you're making a public, voluntary commitment. We will not do anything harmful with your data. If you misuse the platform, we may remove your access.
That is genuinely the whole thing. The rest below is the formal version.
1. Using IndianCivics
IndianCivics provides educational content about civic behaviour in India. All written content, including the root-cause modules, is made available for personal reading and sharing with attribution.
You may not:
- Reproduce content commercially without permission
- Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-download content
- Impersonate another person when creating an account or signing a pledge
- Use the platform to spread disinformation or for political campaigning
2. Accounts and the pledge
Creating an account requires a Google sign-in. By signing in, you confirm that the account belongs to you and that the Google account is yours to use.
When you take the Civic Pledge, you are making a voluntary public statement of personal intention. The pledge is not a legally binding contract. It is a social commitment. Your name and city will appear on a public page accessible to anyone with the link.
You may sign the pledge once, or multiple times over time (for example, as a renewal of commitment). We do not place a limit on this.
3. Content standards
IndianCivics is a respectful, fact-based platform. We reserve the right to remove any content or account that:
- Contains personal abuse or hate speech
- Submits false information in the pledge or profile
- Misrepresents the platform's purpose or affiliation
4. Intellectual property
The IndianCivics name, wordmark, and original written content are owned by IndianCivics. Statistical data cited in our content is sourced from public research; those sources retain their own copyright.

5. Disclaimers
IndianCivics is provided as-is. We make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy, but we are a small, bootstrapped team. If you spot an error in our content — a wrong stat, a misleading claim, a missed nuance — please tell us at hello@indiancivics.org.
We do not guarantee continuous availability of the platform. We may take it offline for maintenance, and we will try to give reasonable notice.
6. Limitation of liability
IndianCivics shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability for any claim related to the platform shall not exceed ₹1,000.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Hyderabad, Telangana.
